Physical Assessment Lab

The Physical Assessment lab (an additional low-fidelity lab), located on the corner of Volunteer Blvd and UT Drive, is a 2,000 square-foot facility with 16 physical assessment exam tables with functioning head wall units, separated by privacy curtains. The lab is equipped with medical assessment supplies, task trainers, and 2 Nursing Anne and 2 Nursing Kelly Laerdal manikins, with SimPad capabilities, that promote cognitive and psychomotor skill development.

The lab is stocked with assessment skill trainers, such as the AbSim, the OtoSim, and other biometric screening tools. In the center of this lab is seating for 48 students, and projector screen to reinforce learning material. The Physical Assessment lab is also equipped with private office space, in addition to 2 conference style rooms for meetings. This space is frequently used for junior, senior and ABSN students, as well as graduate students, for practice and reinforcement of basic nursing assessment skills.
