UT College of Nursing and UT Tickle College of Engineering created an innovative educational software program that allows nursing students to get hands-on experience with electronic health records (EHR). DocuCare gives students a competitive edge in managing electronic health records and evidence based care.
DocuCare is an educational software program that allows students to get hands-on experience with electronic health records (EHR) before graduation. Built by nurses and engineers at the University of Tennessee, DocuCare helps prepare health care professionals for the demands of the future.
Students are exposed to EHRs during clinicals, but in most cases they don’t use the technology first-hand and document care electronically. DocuCare was created to give students a more comprehensive background of electronic documentation and how EHRs can inform evidence based care. The prototype versions of DocuCare were tested by HITS collaborators and partners at Kennesaw State University and Kent State University, Stark Campus.
Lippincott’s DocuCare was globally released in July 2012.
